Loeb’s Market: A Journey of Transformation
In May 2019, Isabel and I made an inspired decision and purchased Loeb’s Market. It has been an incredible journey, and we’re so glad we did. At the time, the challenges were mountainous, but they were also an opportunity to grow, transform, and create something truly special for the Lenox community.
Before taking ownership, I faced many personal hurdles. The lasting effects of a severe car accident and years of sports injuries left me questioning whether my legs could even handle a part-time job on my feet, let alone the grueling demands of working 14 hours a day, seven days a week. Yet, something deeper—rooted in an unwavering desire to contribute and create—pushed me forward.
Those familiar with Goodology know my deep connection to its principles, focusing on inner energy and the transformation of pain into flow. It was a calling I wasn’t ready to set aside, but I saw the potential to bring those same principles into this new venture. And rewarding it has been.
Navigating the financial aspect of buying Loeb’s added another layer of challenge. With almost no startup capital, the purchase and financing of both the building and the business was a significant leap. The store, often referred to as a “Food Museum,” was understocked, outdated, dirty, and weighed down by debt. Despite its condition, I saw the potential beneath the surface. This decision wasn’t just about acquiring a business; it was about restoring and revitalizing a cornerstone of the community.
I felt confident that we could do it. Over the past six years, we’ve worked tirelessly to breathe new life into Loeb’s Market. From expanding the grocery selection to creating a standout sandwich shop, we’ve transformed it into a vibrant place where customers feel cared for and appreciated. Every day, we’re inspired by the people we serve and the opportunity to provide something meaningful to the community.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every moment. Loeb’s has become a reflection of hard work, resilience, and the belief that even the most challenging situations can be turned into something great.
